What made you interested in working with Legal Aid of Nebraska and in helping our clients?

“The importance of Legal Aid of Nebraska cannot be overstated.  Without the top-notch legal services it provides throughout Nebraska, many who need quality legal representation during some of the most challenging and emotional times of their lives would, sadly, probably not be represented at all.  Our legal system just plain works better and as it’s supposed to when all parties, regardless of financial means, are represented—and I wanted to be a part of that.”

What do you enjoy about the work you do for Legal Aid of Nebraska and its clients?  What makes you feel good/proud about making this part of your law practice?

“When working with Legal Aid of Nebraska, I know I’m providing a valuable service to a disadvantaged, but deserving, clientele and fulfilling an important responsibility to the legal profession.  Working with Legal Aid challenges me to help people work through legal issues that my clients in private practice may not even have to think about or may take for granted—like finding a physically safe place to live or securing the financial means to become self-sufficient.”

What would you tell an attorney who has never volunteered with Legal Aid of Nebraska?

“I urge you to do your part and volunteer now!  You’ll meet and work with some great people.  Opportunities are available in a number of different practice areas.  Whether you’re assisting a victim of domestic violence secure that much needed protection order, counseling someone with limited means work through a challenging financial situation, or helping out with any other of a number of matters Legal Aid handles, you’ll gain meaningful experience and provide a whole lot of help to an appreciative client along the way.  I’m confident you’ll agree it’s a rewarding experience.”

Having Matt’s support is a huge benefit to Legal Aid and our clients – because of the counties he covers and because he is an exceptional attorney. Thank you, Matt, for your dedication to making equal justice happen.
