Legal Aid of Nebraska receives $10,000 from Greater Grand Island Community Foundation to provide services to survivors of domestic violence in greater Nebraska

Legal Aid of Nebraska received $10,000 from the Greater Grand Island Community Foundation’s 2023 Spring Greater Impact Grants to support its REACH Initiative, which provides free civil legal assistance to survivors of domestic violence and other intimate partner violence.

“There is a great need for legal help. Approximately 1 in 5 requests for assistance Legal Aid receives from individuals residing in greater Nebraska is related to domestic violence,” said Emily Santa, Managing Attorney of Legal Aid’s Grand Island office, “This funding allows Legal Aid to provide crucial legal help. Access to civil legal services improves the safety of survivors and their children, which positively affects communities. We are thankful to the Greater Grand Island Community Foundation for its partnership and support.”

The grant will help further Legal Aid of Nebraska’s mission to promote justice, dignity, hope, and self-sufficiency through quality civil legal aid for those who have nowhere else to turn.
