We are excited to highlight volunteer attorney Allee Barton!
Allee is an associate attorney at Husch Blackwell where she assists individuals, companies, and municipalities in navigating their collaborations with state and federal agencies. Allee has volunteered at several Set Aside & Record Sealing and LGBTQIA2S+ Name Change Clinics with Legal Aid of Nebraska. Allee has been a volunteer since February 2021 and we are so thankful for her commitment to making equal justice happen.
What has been one of your most rewarding moments while providing assistance to Legal Aid clients?
As an attorney, it’s easy to forget how difficult it can be for many to access legal services and the courts. But when providing assistance to Legal Aid clients I’m reminded that preparing and filing even one document on their behalf can open doors and provide opportunities that the client has been waiting for.
What would you say to an attorney who is thinking about volunteering with Legal Aid?
Sign up and see what it is about! Legal Aid does an amazing job organizing the clinics, which are often on a Saturday, and preparing the volunteers. I’ve only had great experiences volunteering with Legal Aid!
